Introducing Artisan Kenichi Okuno who hand crafts ‘Shaker’ style wooden boxes & trays at his ‘Tiny Workshop’ in the countryside of Japan’s Noto Peninsula.

Shaker boxes were popularised by the Shaker folk community in the USA who refined and perfected the construction of these bentwood boxes. They feature distinctive ‘swallowtail’ joins fastened with copper tacks. They are a practical and attractive way to store tea ware or anything you desire.


After developing a keen interest for Shaker Boxes, Okuno San’s passion is honouring and continuing the tradition of hand crafting these unique pieces.

His meticulous work is truly beautiful, and we are very proud to be offering a selection of designs and sizes made from black cherry wood. Please see below for available options:
