KUBO KOMAKICHI

500+ Years of Family History

Kubo Komakichi is a Chasen Artisan from the famous Takayama village in Nara, where most of Japan’s traditional Chasen craftsmen are based.

One of the youngest craftsmen in the village, he is spearheading the next generation of artisans, and keeping the tradition alive.

He is also the next generation in a family of Chasen craftsmen that stretches back over 500 years of history and refinement.

Inspired by his grandfather, he left university to hone his craft and committed to continue the family legacy.

Despite his relatively young age, he’s already accumulated close to two decades of experience perfecting his skills.

He produces the finest Chasen made with exacting skill, and we are proud to offer a selection of his work on our store.
