Chashaku Enshu-ryu Kochiku Bamboo – Kubo Komakichi

5 People have purchased this product

This unique ‘Kochiku’ or ‘Old Bamboo’ Chashaku (scoop) has been hand crafted by Master Craftsman Kubo Komakichi.

It is designed for the Enshu-ryu school of Tea ceremony and features a distinctive steep angled tip, but can be used by anyone to measure the desired amount of Matcha powder.

It is made from antique bamboo that has been exposed over a fireplace or hearth in a traditional Japanese home to produce its unique colour and markings. This colouration process can take over one hundred years, and even hundreds of years. It is becoming more rare as these traditional homes become more scarce.

Kochiku Chashaku are lighter and have more varied markings as they are made from bamboo that usually makes the walls surrounding the fireplace. They differ slightly from our Susudake Chashaku , which are from the roof over the fireplace and are generally darker.

**Please note: as this is a natural product, colour & markings may differ slightly to the product pictured. The bamboo is antique from old Japanese houses and may display some markings or imperfections. This is the nature of the product. Each piece is unique and will be selected randomly from available stock.
