This ‘Kobukusa’ is made by historic textile craft store Kitamura Tokusai in Kyoto. Kitamura Tokusai has over 300 years of history producing textiles for Chanoyu (The Way Of Tea), or Japanese Tea Ceremony.

This particular Kobukusa is slightly smaller than a regular Kobukusa and is designed for the Chitose Bon Temae 千歳盆用古帛紗.

Kobukusa is a specialised cloth made of pure silk used in the ritual of tea ceremony. It is used to handle or rest upon a tea bowl or utensils in order to show them respect or regard. It can similarly be used to display teaware or as an ornamental item. Those made by Kitamura Tokusai are of the finest quality silk, and are all carefully hand sewn.

We are proud to offer a range of these beautiful artisanal textiles from one of Japan’s most renowned producers.

**Please note: this item is made from 100% silk and contact with water should be avoided as it could lead to damage
