This 100% silk Kobukusa is made by talented textiles and dyeing artist Naomi Sakano. The pattern is made by a traditional ‘Aizome’ or indigo dyeing technique.
Kobukusa are a specialised cloth made of pure silk used in the ritual of tea ceremony to rest certain utensils or vessels upon to both protect them and show them regard.
Sakano San generally produces art pieces on canvas, but transfers her art to practical pieces, particularly items used for tea ceremony.
This is a one-of-a-kind custom design, and we are excited to offer such a unique piece.
