This beautiful copper ‘Chakoshi’ tea infuser is hand crafted at Torii Kanaami in Kyoto City.
Established in 1889, they have a long history making utensils for tea, traditional Japanese cooking, and also netting that is used by Shrines, Temples, and Machiya townhouses throughout Kyoto.
The copper changes colour over time and use, adding a unique character to this already intricate utensil.

Absolutely fantastic! Beautifully crafted tea strainer. I’ve been using cheap awkward strainers for years- but it just doesn’t work with finely crafted Japanese tea. You need a strainer that equals the quality of tea and preparation. Or else it’s the weakest link in the process. These hand made strainers are exquisite, functional, and just make me happy.
